SCULPTURE UNVEILING PARTY
AND INAUGURATION AT THE NEW
"CONDOR STREET URBAN WILD"
Come join us for a day of Celebration! B
and Woody have recently completed a 29 piece public art sculpture called
the Chelsea Creek Clipper. These stones were originally part of an old
seawall on the site. They have been reconstituted in the shape of a
boat to commemorate the ship-building heritage of East Boston. Donald
Mc Kay's famous clipper ship, the Flying Cloud, was constructed at his
shipyard on the banks of Chelsea Creek.
B worked closely with the community gathering oral histories which are
inscribed on the stones. A natural gathering place now exists in the
newly constructed Condor Street Urban Wild Park. B is originally from
East Boston. For her, the creation of this sculpture in her home community
feels like the completion of a circular journey. October 4th is the
official opening of the Park and the unveiling of the sculpture. We
hope that you can join us for the festivities!
